And the king will say to them in reply, "Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mind, you did for me." - Matthew 25:37-40
Jesus equates what we do for the least ones, (the hungry, the naked, the thirsty, the imprisoned) as doing something for him. He promises a reward when we love the people, who can never do anything back to us in return. As we work to change our lives, to become people who love all, let us remind ourselves that giving to the poor and spending less is in our own best interest and brings the greatest reward of all -drawing closer to Christ.
